Offering the public more than 200 titles from over 50 international publishers, the Vernacular Art Book Fair, in collaboration with Proyectos Monclova, serves as an extension of the exhibition de Métrico a Imperial by Ištvan Išt Huzjan concurrently on view at the gallery.
With special emphasis on publications that deploy performative approaches to editing, printing and writing, the fair places Huzjan’s work in dialogue within a global context of artist-book production. It brings key art publications to Mexico City including a selection of international artist books, art catalog(ue)s, monographs, photography books and zines from a diverse range of publishers in Berlin, Brussels, London, Los Angeles, Lisbon, Paris, Mexico City, New York and more.
Through circulation and consumption of artist-made books, the book fair supports a sense of global artistic community by promoting commonalities between artistic languages and printed matter that are bound in artists’ individual visual and narrative vernaculars.
The Vernacular Art Book Fair is curated by Frances Horn and Jo Ying Peng.
